MS Program Overview

The Master of International Institute of Paris’s program repositions mid-career professionals for the highest levels of public service leadership. Mid-career students come to 2IP with at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the public, non-profit, or as private sector professionals seeking a career change.

The 2IP Ms is a one year Program and the curriculum requires 120 ECTS credits with specializations.

The 2IP-Master of Science in Finance (MSF)

The International Institute of Paris Master in Finance prepares students for careers in financial analysis and management. This rigorous quantitative program relies on current technology and financial methodologies to analyze complex problems. The coursework stresses the application of contemporary theories in a global context and develops valuable financial modeling and analytical skills.

The Master of Science in Finance requires foundation courses in finance such as Financial Accounting, Business, Corporate Finance, Financial Engineering, and Statistics for Business, Financial Management, and Mathematics for Financial Analysts.

Core courses include Managerial Economics, Corporate Finance, and Advanced Corporate Finance: A Case Study Approach, Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Modeling, Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, Derivative Securities, and Advanced Portfolio Management. Twelve credits in elective classes are also required to complete the Master of Science in Finance program.

2IP MS Admission and Degree Requirements

Admission to the MS in Management Program is limited to individuals with extensive supervisory experience in their program area who may already possess advanced professional credentials in the public. In reviewing applications, the Admissions Committee will consider prior academic achievement, letters of recommendation, and career attainments and goals as discussed by the applicant in the Statement of Purpose section of the application form.

MS Degree’s requirements consist of 90 ECTS credits that must be completed with an average of B or better. All MS Students will be required to complete an integrating seminar, or end event, as a final requirement for the degree. All MS Students must demonstrate basic competency in management and financial management. In management, proficiency may be demonstrated through prior academic work, through equivalent work experience, or by taking Managing Public Service Organizations or Strategic Management.

Program in Computer Science

The International Institute of Paris Master of Science program in Computer Science prepares individuals for research careers in industry, or advanced technical positions in industry. The program is designed for students who offer evidence of above average scholastic ability at the undergraduate level. Upon completion of the MS. Program of study, the student will have knowledge in each of the following three core areas:

  • Computer Systems
  • Programming Languages and Translators
  • Theory and Complexity

And in one of these three areas:

  • Computer Graphics
  • Computer Networks
  • Software Engineering

The student will also have a significant exposure to application areas that emphasize the integration of the core areas and will have the opportunity to participate in a research project under the direction of a faculty member. The student will also acquire advanced programming skills as a part of the program. Completion of the MS Program normally requires from one and one-half years to two years beyond the undergraduate degree but may require additional time for students whose undergraduate degree is in an area other than computer science. Two academic years usually are required for the completion of the MS Degree if financial assistance is provided. Each candidate is required to complete specific course requirements and pass a final MS Exam.

General requirements

The basic requirement for the MS in Computer Science is successful completion of 30 credits hours of approved courses.

At least 24 of the 30 hours must be at the 800 levels. Students may include up to 6 hours of approved courses from outside the Department of Computer Science.

The Thesis Option

The thesis option is designed for students who have a strong interest in research and who can complete an original and creative research project. The scope and significance of that research is expected to be significantly beyond that which is required for the research paper. The quality of the research and presentation should be such that the thesis or a derivative work is acceptable for publication in a refereed conference proceedings or archival journal.

The final examination is an oral examination conducted by the professorial committee. The student is expected to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of both the research results presented and the pre-existing body of knowledge that the results extend.
